I've been practicing living without a/c here in Texas all summer. For one, I saved about $100 each month in June and July. Two, I've realized that it is possible as long as you have a fan and water. Without a fan you'll have to double or triple your water usage.
I had to relocate all my canned goods to an environment with ground cooling. At some points it was 110 degrees in my home.
I slept at night from 2 AM til noon, when the temperature forced me to wake up.
I'm quite happy that I did it and I feel many would be severely affected without a/c. It's now August and we've had some rain and the highs have dropped to the mid 90's, which feel amazing after going through 105.
Quoting: Relik This is also a super smart thing to do/adjust to. I personally have been using fans in windows my whole life. And if you aren't use to it, now is a good time to adjust. Mostly because of sleep hours, it can be really stressfull, it forces you to adjust. Wake up at a certain hour to close windows/pull fan out. Etc, can keep your house super cool if done right, save lives even.
