You should be proud of him. I saw yesterday that for the first time in the US, there are more pot smokers than cigarette smokers. As a former pot smoker of decades, I would say your son explained it pretty well. I just got tired of sitting around...high.

Weed has never stopped me doin anything, it's just like coffee or cigs, just a nice accompanyment to life, it's just a plant, everyone's got issues, as long as you don't rely on shit to fix shit, big whoops

Absolutely. Ironically the two biggest financial contributors to the "war on drugs' were alcohol and tobacco companies...in hopes of preserving their government sponsored monopolies.

Ok for the follow up/ background

(Probably too much information but I feel like sharing)

He has anxiety and depression. About 4 years ago started talking about suicide. He was in therapy but things just seemed to be getting worse. He goes through the motions of life (school and work and a couple friends) but needs breaks more often then what we would consider normal.

Like an 8 hour work day wrecks him emotionally but if he can take a 1 hour break and only work like 2 days on/1 day off he can handle it

After the counselor we went on to psychiatrist and that of course led to prescriptions. Started on Prozac but that wasn't helping at all. Tried Lithium but he didn't like the way that made him feel. He now takes escitalopram during the day and melatonin at night.

I'm not saying the prescriptions are any better than smoking ... but the less amount of stuff you take the better. So, quitting weed was a really big deal for him.

He's an A student, smart and funny, he just has ... problems. I'll take some of the blame as a parent for probably being able to do things better along the way but I honestly didn't know how. I just did the best I could.

In closing this rant I just wanted to say thank you for listening (reading)
