Modern day equivalent of New York's "Co-Op City".

[link to www.coopcity.com (secure)]

"Everything you need in one place", groceries, stores, hospitals, etc. "No need for a car". Self contained with their own utilities, schools, parking garages, sewage plant, etc. I drive past it on my way to the airports in NY and there's no way I would ever live there even if it was my last avaiable option in life.

Pictures like this make me start thinking like John Cusack in Utopia.

Why wouldn't people spread out a bit?

Prison cells.

Humans aren't supposed to live like that.

450 sqft 1 bedroom micro apartments in 100 story high rise complexes.

This is Hong Kong, and the future in every metropolitan city in America.

These are already going up everywhere in California, and it's only a matter of time before the suburbs and rural towns are completely destroyed across the US.

I'd rather have a small apartment built well so I don't hear people above and around me and then an apartment where they build it out of sticks and I can hear pounding and screaming all around me.

More likely it will be a small one that I can still hear everything because they build these things cheap as s***
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40650495

You can have your 'well built, well insulated' little micro apartment.

I'll stick to my 3.1k sq ft old farmhouse on 6 acres.

It's drafty, the floors creak, and its not very well insulated but I'm in the middle of nowhere so no neighbors.
 Quoting: Just Passing Through.....

That sounds a lot like my place except I have 7 acres. I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's paid off with cheap property taxes. The winters can be hard but the nearest neighbor is a mile away. With farmers owning most of the land out here combined with the gravel roads and harsh winters I don't think I have to worry about neighbors anytime soon.

That’s really interesting, just think of the infrastructure you need to support those buildings. Power, water, sewer and also bring in food for all the people that live there. Just getting people in and out to go to their work as I only see a small road to the one side of the building.

Under green new deal BS you have to use solar and wind to build everything. Cant successfully build structures as these without traditional machinery ran on gas and oil etc..

They cant have both.

Don't be stupid OP. The reason for these is lack of space. America does not have a lack of space you moran.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71909182

they (wef) did say they wanted to move people out of rural areas, into big cities, exactly like in the photo and turn everything else in to nature reserves that you could only enter with a permit.

pretty sure thats what OP is referring too.

the whole 'youll own nothing' thing includes the theft of private property. and relocation would be done from your house, to a place like this.

in their fantasy/dreams. but it is in fact something they said they are planning on. for the west
 Quoting: T-Man

Ergonomically speaking, there is no way the WEF will be able to get Americans into a city like Hong Kong as pictured. That is nothing but a WEF wet dream. A very small part of our population lives in the city. Most of the big cities, like LA, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Seattle, etc. etc. have become cesspools of crime, drugs, and homelessness. I believe that in the USA, people will be fleeing the cities in the next 50 years....If the people of Hong Kong want that dystopian life style of living like a trapped rat more power to them....no thanks, not for me pal!

Unfortunately the sewage will probably be piped to a reclamation plant in the basement, processed and piped right back to the taps at the top. That is probably where they will raise the bugs too, on the sewage, then process them into soylent brown crackers. Of course they will be euthanizing a lot of people, and everyone at thirty, so there probably plenty of space, since most of them will be sterilized to boot. As far as power, you will probably only get an hour, per level for the whole day. Everyone should plan accordingly. After all your virtual goggles that make it all seem beautiful and bearable won't charge themselves.

And looking at these future cities, it makes you wonder, how long it will be before we are in pod towers plugged into the matrix. Maybe the next hundred years.

It beats being homeless or having to live in a car because this fucking country won’t look out for it’s own citizens and rather help illegal invaders.

I know the gall of people not willing to work to support people that don't want to work. Don't they know homeless deserve everything but shouldn't have to work for it.

How are they "going up everywhere in California" when much of California has earthquake building code that limits building heights?

Most of California is ranches with no basement.
