Having an upright pentagram within an inverted pentagram seems more like freemasonry, symbolic of their “as above, so below” slogan

I believe it is freemasonry, which is of course a far more destructive and insidious form of satanism than the LaVeyan form of the Church of Satan. Church of Satan is atheistic and open, unlike freemasonry, which is secret and directs its work at directly corrupting christians and other religious people by recruiting them as members and tricking them into disavowing their religion by supplanting with it oaths and rituals that render their previous beliefs null and void, while attempting to retain control over the levers of power over society.

He's in a healing profession... My guess is he's a gay man, and frankly that's more important to me. I think it would be good to have a gay man who's competent - and he does seem to be credentialed- in charge of a disease that's primarily affecting gay men right now, because maybe they will respect him and listen to him.

Main difference with LaVey’s Church of Satan and vastly more destructive forms of satanism, such as freemasonry, temple of set, satanic chruch, etc is that it is open and it encourages independent thought. Open in that all materials are publicly available. There is no trick or advancement of degrees to unlock secret knowledge. But if you want to look at satanists trying to corrupt society, comes nowhere close to freemasonry or temple of set style satanism, and nowhere close to the actual endorsement of destructive practices.
