I suspect that the FED and Central Banks are holding the gold price down until they can all convert to gold first. Once that is complete, including transfer of paper contracts and balancing budgets then we will see the jump in prices as metals become rare.

This took longer than expected because Russia moved into Ukraine... saving themselves from a monopoly run. Smart. And necessary.

But the real date that all this kicked off was when the "empty" cargo ship from Tanzania to UAE was hijacked and the Captain and Security guy were killed. That ship was carrying illegal gold from South Africa to no-accounting-Dubai.
