i admit i spoiled my kids where my dad made me work for it. my dads old school italian. the only thing he did for me was buy all my cars for me. growing up i hadda pay my mom 25$ wk rent from age 16. if i borrowed his car he chgd me 20 a week.

i went to texas with my friends at 15. cqme back a year later. dad got me an apt in smithtown for 195 a month. gave me 3 months to get a job n pay the rent on my own. i hadda get my friends to move in with me. a fkn studio.

I am an aging gen Xer. I couldn’t wait, and didn’t, to move out of my parents house and live my own life. Now, I work with 30 somethings who live with their parents and complain. Some of them don’t even have a driver’s license.

dude i tried. i got them apts at 17. paid it for my daughter while she was in college. she couldve worked but didnt. my sons did. both. bought their cars but they paid the insurance. gave them more than my dad did. tried to get them to save. they got no savings. right now for the 112k i gave my son for the house the house is in my trust n he has to gimme money for a savings. that was the deal. my daughter married a dude that makes 130k yr n i got her as job 55k yr.

but he worked for that education

not all are worthless. but a good majority are. kudos to you
