Russians preferred to use their trained subjects too, Wagner, Chechens, militia, e.t.c. I do not think that Russian (or Uki) regular army is well trained.

Again, one of state inspectors in my industry is a recent former Army Ranger who still stays plugged in with his unit buddies. Various US military personnel have been in Ukraine and involved with this conflict from the start.
