What bullshit. It takes hours to get across the border at San Diego. The border patrol looks through your car, checks your i.d., asks a bunch of nosey questions and then you go through. And that's just if you are a white person driving a car with a California license plate. If you're mexican or look mexican good luck.

I have two neighbors who went to US as babies and got deported in November 2001, post- 9-11 crackdown.

They just bought bus tickets to Mexico and will walk over the Rio Grande, then head to Florida to stay with their families.

I told them it was crazy expensive and they won't find decent, permanent jobs or affordable housing, but they have convinced themselves it will be fine.

I am worried about the river crossing for the woman. She isn't in great health and cannot work. Her sister won't tolerate her BIL for more than a few weeks and my friend is not the kind of guy who will be at a job more than two weeks. He speaks English, but his writing is horrible.

They have a decent house and land here. Sold their truck, TV, freezer, refrigerator and farm animals to fund their trip to the US.

I was just musing over how one time we had bought a ceramic tortoise at a swap meet place in Tijuana. It's for the backyard as a deco. The border patrol gave me a ration of shit over the turtle. We're both white people in a nice suburban. They kept saying you went to Tijuana for a deco? Yes, I wanted more items but that's the only I liked. Ridiculous.

Then one time we drove from Canada to NY and at the border crossing the border patrol person treated us like we were fugitives on the run. She even asked if we had people in the trunk of the car. I wanted to say no, no living ones.

Maybe some day I will have no problem with world wide open borders. I sure like the open borders when traveling through all of Europe. USA and Canada for sure should have an open border instead they have border control nazis who give you nothing but a hard time.

My big issue is that I come home from a trip to Brazil as a USA citizen born and raised and I have to talk to some bad attitude immigration's beast in a box and be questioned about everything I did on my vacation. They enjoy making you feel uncomfortable but while this bullshit border theater is going on another few thousand just walked in a the southern border. No vax required and free money as well as plane or bus trips for all. That really grinds my gears.
