Can anyone explain to me in laymen's terms how inflation rate is calculated?
They seem rather full of shit to me the way they say US has 10% inflation when everything I see is twice as much as last year, some shit is multiple times as expensive.

Prices have gone up a bit but not like you are making it out to be. I go shopping all the time and I would say prices are up about 10 to 15 percent. That's what happens when you start paying everyone that's complaining more money when thaters a labor shortage it all evens out. And the 15 dollar an hour McDonald's worker is actually probably better off now. A quick google search and they are 3.28 at Walmart, 3.99 at Publix and 4.79 at Walgreens. So it matters WHERE you shop. Locally in the mom and pop grocery they are over 4.00. So there is a great disparity in price points. It does not surprise me that the price is over $5 in some places.
