They used to cut off hands for stealing anything in Saudi in the 1980's. Do it twice and you'll have to use your teeth to steal.

My wife’s uncle did that all the time.

We would see them on the streets grunting for money. Usually a young homeless boy would help them out.

These were usually successful businessmen or government officials.

If you committed a petty theft… like steal food from one of their stores, or the uncles sisters store…. The first time they would kidnap you in the night, take you 50 KM out of town and dump you on a rural road- naked, no money or ID.

The second time…. Well, learn to grunt. That’s if you were dumb enough to come back to in town and piss the syndicate off again. Many were never seen again.
