Alabama Medicaid is a goddamn joke. I can't get pain meds... although I'm older with a lot of pain issues ...if you're poor in Alabama, youre fucked. Hospitals don't even have to take you at e.r.s they are legally allowed to let you die outside emergency rooms if you have no insurance but let me tell you, Medicaid here is just as bad...not even ANY doctor in my county that takes it and my vehicle can't make it further ...bottom line..if you want to be treated like shit because you don't have money and have health issues, come to Alabama...oh and after you work 35 hours a week a few weeks, they take your Medicaid anyway, even if you make minimum wage. There is an area where you make too much to get many benefits, but not enough to really afford the alternatives. I was surprised to learn that my state also requires no breaks, unless the employer is a factory (specific wording). They did stipulate that if the employer does choose to offer unpaid breaks, they cannot require you to stay on-site for those breaks (which is kind of duuuuuhhh). And if you do get Medicaid, the places that accept it aren't usually the best. It's nice to have for a catastrophic emergency but not much else. You might look into the health insurance laws, it seems that if you work over 30 hours a week on average many employers are required to offer health insurance. It's probably not a good plan and super expensive, but it's something. (Federal definition of full-time is 30+ hours per week or 130 hours per month). Unfortunately, many employers will work you to just under that limit. Company loyalty is dead. |

I actually had several doctors suggest I go to a methadone clinic and claim I'm an addict LMAO. I've never been addicted to anything in my life.
