Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84180064 I have a relative in victoria and read their local news every day: Victoria Buzz. After reading that for a couple of months I realized that Victoria was nice but NOT IDYLLIC. |

Quoting: -Kate- There’s not too many people here, closest city is Edmonton 3 plus hours away. The majority here are awake to WEF plans, and there’s lots of places to bugout. Culturally outdated by choice User ID: 76556707 United States 09/18/2022 06:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I like it pretty well where I am. Humble little cottage on the edge of a tiny town in north central Missouri. The only real drawback is the stifling muggy heat in July and August. If the grid goes down, we'll need a lot larger and nicer basement to keep cool. Winter is harsh, but it's a great time to sit around the wood stove in the evening. No place is perfect, but it is what we make it. More deplorable all the time. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 84215149 Australia 09/18/2022 06:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My ranch instead of in town here. I can hear the coyotes howl at night, and the little birds and pheasants during the day. Outside of winter, there's always a little breeze comes up at about noon, and I can listen to the wind in the pines. There is a wild rose beside the door. There is no TV, no noisy appliances, only a faint traffic noise sometimes. Listening, just listening, brings a calm to the mind and a peace to the heart. Quoting: Lily o' the Valley We left our neighborhood a couple years back and out to land. I grew up like this, I can’t believe how much I missed that silence where all you hear is the sounds the wind rustles up. I've had similar experience, I left school young and worked several years on a property on the edge of the outback, mostly on my own, it was a bit surreal, like being in a Clint Eastwood Western or the David Carridine Kung Fu tv series but where there were no bad guys but there were potentially dangerous circumstances and no one to pull my arse out of the fire if something went way wrong. Please tell more. I’m working on shipping my moto to Australia and doing an Outback ride in a couple years. It’s not a very hard process from US to AUS, just have to meet the required specs Australia wants. The potential dangers I referred to were mostly to do with heavy machinery and stockman's work and not the general landscape itself. But certainly be aware of not putting hands or feet anywhere you can't see, there's no rattle warning on Australian snakes. Snakes will get out of your way, except for adders or those who have young nearby, the main danger though is accidentally treading on them or being close enough to make them feel threatened. If it's a mere proximity perceived threat where someone hasn't physically contacted the snake, it might give a 'milder' and less harmful version of a bite as a deterrent. About half the people killed by snakebite were trying to kill the snake or accidentally trod on it, snakes probably nearly always go full injection mode in those scenarios. They can draw on venom faster than a human can draw spit. But I don't want to exxagerate the danger, I grew up in area infested with deadly snakes, probably 100 or more per sq mile, no one I've ever known got bit, because they all cautious. If you can't safely avoid running over a snake on the road or wherever, quickly wind up your car window to rule out them being thrown up into the window area, been known, my Dad always warned us about that. Same caution level goes for wild buck kangaroos or even 'domestic' cattle that aren't used to having people around. I got chased by a mob of semi wild cattle and had to dive through a strand bullwire fence to get clear. My cousin had to jump into a dry creek to avoid an ambush from a large buck roo that was frothing at the mouth, snot flying everwhere, glaring down at him from the creekbank. My cousin resisted the opportunity to blow it's head off with the .32 pump action he had with him lol Also there's some nasty diseases that the wildlife or wild introduced species may have outside of controlled areas, e.g several types of liver fluke and other parasites, Colesi virus, or maybe? traces of control toxic baits etc. so it's an uknown if a wild goat, rabbit or roo etc. is fit for consumption, though they may look it. It's generally not like e.g Europe or USA where there's a bunch of species which can be hunted and eaten without such concerns. |
