One of the commenters had an interesting point though. Had there been water in the trench perhaps he would be good? Maybe there is water in the trench but it doesnt look that way to me. What are your guys thoughts, would water in the trench stop/greatly lessen the grenade blast? kinda makes sense to me

That close to him, I think even if he was underwater, the pressure change, the fragmentations and the chemical blasting agents hitting him would still be deadly.

As an aside, I don’t think being in a water filled trench is conductive to be able to fight properly.
