Honestly, they've been stalled on the same front for 6 months. They even lost Kherson.

You can't paint this any other way than a stalemate.

The only positive is Ukraine seems to be losing far more troops than Russia, but even that I can't verify.

This is what NATO wants. A stalemate as long as they can keep it going. Just enough military aid to keep that stalemate going.

Poland is playing a dangerous game. This may end badly for them and it's a heck of a gamble. If Russia wins, and that may happen, they will be the next long meat grinder war.

I don't think NATO will get directly involved if Poland goes to war, as crazy as it seems.

Poland was sort of sacrificed in WW II. Maybe they should pick better allies because NATO is leading them to slaughter

Russia will fight Ukraine conventionally, but if Poland gets directly involved, I doubt Russia would have the patience they have with Ukraine. They would most likely get nuked and the rest of their allies will just run, like they did in the last war.

The part I don't get is how electricity is restored so quickly. Just a year or two back, I was hearing that transformers in the US were on a 42 month backorder. Yet power seems to be back up in Uke cities within hours of a major barrage.

I did a bit of due diligence (maybe on the OG thread?). Most of the Ukraine was modernized during the Soviet era. So their systems are 'lada-lego like'. During the fall of the USSR, the factories were still pumping things out mainly because the workers were bored/suffering normalcy bias. That meant that all the Soviet systems (it being communist) were used everywhere. They weren't reliant on various contractors supplying slightly modified equipment. If it worked, they mass mfg. it. I had a troll tell me otherwise until I pulled up data on when all the damn, hydro-stations etc. were put in. Soviet era. Still.

My guess would be is that there are lots, and lots, of critical infrastructure parts sitting around in storage. A guess, but a somewhat educated, guess.

It only appears that the electricity is back on. Small portable generators for small shops and houses and larger ones for schools and hospitals are being employed in large numbers in the cities. Most districts in the cities have power for limited times during the day. Large power users like trams/trains, water purification and supply, and non essential industry have no power at all. As the grid is patched together in certain areas, the Russians hit it again.
