The Ukrainian embassy in Poland was outraged by Poles' request to Zelensky to apologize for the Volyn massacre. According to the Ukrainian ambassador to Warsaw, Vasyl Zwarych, this is unacceptable.

The Ukrainian ambassador in Warsaw was outraged by the appeal of Polish Foreign Ministry representative Lukasz Jasina to Zielenski to apologize for the Volyn massacre, which was carried out by Ukrainian nationalists in 1943. According to Zwaric, Poland is trying to force Ukraine to apologize, which is unacceptable. Instead, he suggested using the formula: "We forgive and ask for forgiveness."

Any attempt to impose on the president of Ukraine or Ukraine what we should do about our common past is unacceptable and unfortunate

- said the ambassador.

This reaction of the Ukrainian diplomat angered Poles; in Poland, the Volyn massacre is recognized as a genocide of the Polish people. In 2016, the lower house of the Polish parliament adopted a corresponding resolution and now July 11 is considered the National Day of Remembrance of the victims of genocide committed by Ukrainian nationalists against the inhabitants of the II Polish Republic in 1943-1945. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine condemned this decision; Kiev believes that reminders of the Volyn massacre have a negative impact on relations between the two countries, especially against the background of "Russian aggression."

Meanwhile, readers of one of the Polish publications called the Ukrainian ambassador a "Bender dog" and proposed to declare him persona non grata and expel him from Poland. [link to topwar.ru (secure)]
