In the course of actions to eliminate the sabotage group, one of its members was neutralized and the other was detained. The group was preparing to blow up the power lines, but failed to carry out the attack.

The detained saboteur Valery Panchuk said that he failed to find accomplices in Nova Kakhovka to commit terrorist acts. According to him, this happened because the attitude towards Russia among residents of the Kherson region has noticeably improved.

Panchuk previously served in the internal affairs bodies of Ukraine. He said that he acted as a member of a sabotage group, which was supervised by a GUR officer named Vitaly.

Panchuk had the task to blow up the power line that powers the Crimea, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson region. He realized that he could not do it without help, which he reported to his supervisor. He advised him to find a couple of local people.

"It was in May, and at that time in Nova Kakhovka, I thought I could ask anyone and anyone would help. I said, 'All right, I'll find one. I started asking people - my acquaintances refused. And then I went around and listened to people talking - people changed their attitude: Ukraine gave up, then Russia started giving pensions and rations," said the detainee.
He stated that the residents began to have a much better attitude toward Russia. As a result, the Ukrainian saboteur did not find any helpers to carry out the attack.

As EADaily reported, the day before in Kherson region there were detained saboteurs, who were planning attacks on civil infrastructure to disrupt the referendum, one of them resisted and was killed.
