You are now officially over half a century old, lol I'm 63 and not in the best shape arthritis and other problems it hurts, and lately I've even had to start having a midday nap to get through the day. Enjoy it while you still have your health. My husband just turned 56 and he is in really good health and sometimes still even people ask for his ID. He was blessed with great skin and he works everyday. |

That is the greatest gift of all. Blessing all around, actually. You have your health, your looks and some personal rewards. You didn't mention a husband, so maybe one might see your acts and realize what a catch you are, or would be. Don't forget to be mindful while you are out in the world. Someone may be watching you. |

Quoting: Ohio chic So, today I sit and turn 55, my magical number to stop the rat race and just watch other rats race now but, life doesn’t always work out like ya expect (duh). I’m still raising my grandson (13) and literally taking care of my 75 year old dad like he’s a kid. I’m working harder now then ever. One positive is that I look younger than I really am. I get that alot and I’m staying physically fit and agile with the work I do. I live in the middle of a 10 acre, dense woods. So, I have brush and trees and log splitting etc. Are there any perks, discounts, benefit out in the world that you are able to tap into when you turn 55? Thanks ahead for any suggestions you give!!!!! 55 here too but not as pretty as you Happy birthday baby |

Thanks ahead for any suggestions you give!!!!! Congrats!! I'm 66, so I can tell you what lies ahead. Also, I can tell you that I also look younger than my age. So maybe we have the same sort of DNA. Here's my advice. Get bioidentical hormones if you don't have them already. The pellet kind. Biote makes them. It costs about 400 bux every 4 months. You need to find a doc that does them. If you look on their website, they will refer you. It's worth it. Changed my life. The next thing you want to do is watch your weight. For some reason the 55-65 era was hard to keep on track. I'm on track now, but at times it was a struggle. Next, get your bone density checked. Make sure your inside is looking as good as your outside. You can look 35 on the outside and be 75 on the inside. The last of my advice is that if a joint hurts, rest it and see if it gets better. If you get an achy shoulder, throw the arm in a sling for a day and see if that fixes it. Rest fixes pain better after 55. Back in the old days (pre-55) you powered through. Don't do that any more. Stop and find out what the problem is if it doesn't go away. May you live to be 105. Woohoo only 50 years more to go!! |

Quoting: Ohio chic Most restaurants have a 55+ senior discount, and most insurance rates should start dropping. SS benefits start either at 62 or 65 but most advise starting at 65. Also, there are many new "55+" communities you could move to if you get tired of the woods. I also have recently been pondering how darn busy I am, and how many people in my family I'm having to still take care of. I also look younger than I am. Maybe being needed is what makes us keep going. I have a page on Facebook for longevity tips. If you want to message me, I will give you the link. I would recommend the low-AGE diet. It really can change things. |
