HOLY SHIT - WHEN DID ANDY WARHOL DIE???? 1987?? MANDELA FUCKING WITH US AGAIN!!!

For those who think he died in the 90s. The Songs for Drella was released in 1990.


I will tell you why I remember him being dead before 1984 so well. Before we started a linoleum screen print project in my high school art class, the teacher showed us overheads of Andy's pop art work and lamented him "dying young" and all the artwork we missed. We asked how he died and she said he was shot on the sidewalk in NYC by one of his followers. I mentioned sounded like John Lennon and most of the girls in class were like "who?". This was 13-14 year old girls in October of 1984 so they knew the Beatles but not John Lennon. I was disgusted they didn't know.

During the screen printing project, I cut open my thumb while carving the linoleum in class. The blood went everywhere and a couple of girls were passing out. I had to go to urgent care and it was the day after Halloween. I have a very vivid memory of the whole Warhol art class.

I went to art school and I remember when he died we were all talking about his contribution to art. It was 1987

Same with my timeline. It couldn't have been '87 because I was still living at home. I distinctly remember him dying of surgery complications in 1992, watching it on my big TV after I moved to my first apartment. Total Mandela effect!

My memory of the date of his passing was pinned on the Andy video in 1992.
I always thought they rudely rushed production of it the day after to cash in on his fame.
The man in the moon line makes perfect sense to me now.
I'm still confused by the cryptic Kaufman clips, however.

He died of AIDS in 94 as I remember.
