I don't know if anyone mentioned, but what turned me around after a week of suffering much like what you described is 1000 mg of vitamin C every hour with lots of liquid. I drank Gatorade.

I too lost about 20 lbs in a week's time. Mine started in my intestines and worked its way up to my chest. Just when my throat started to hurt from coughing, I started the Vit. C and within 24 hours I was eating again (soup) and felt like a human again.

Now I take Quercetin with Vit. C, and D3.
