Strange that you mentioned "single." Has it ever been common protocol to take the bachelors first in our history? No doubt with todays dating climate more men are opting for bachelorhood over tieing the noose/knot with a modern day fem-beast. But I don't see these bachelors being easy to roundup, train and sent to fight for a society that hates them.  Single men without children usually drafted 1st than married men without children next than they move into married men with childern. The draft pool has this broke up in 3 parts. However this time they might include women in the draft. That's more like the biblical rules, but it's not how I remember they did Vietnam. It was by birthdate, every year there was the televised "draft lottery". Yes it was sad. And there were college exemptions, giving rise to "professional grad students" who would try to prolong their PhD studies until the war was over.
