If they try to conscript you, defend yourself,
or be a slave. It's entirely up to you.

I don't believe it's ethical to force people to fight foreign wars.

In direct defense of your Homeland is another matter, though in that case people ought not need coercion.

Sending draftees to Europe in WW1 was not ethical and so on.

The US gives you the right to file as a conscientious objector. You may be required to serve in a non combat capacity. If you are US based you should have learned about this in high school. Not every country provides this option. This option has been upheld in courts in the US.
