It doesn't make sense.
How can you force a person to kill people.
What if you tell them that you will commit suicide or kill your own people/soldiers if they hand you a gun?

The bhhoomer trait of painting the participants as noble is fucked. The outcome of the conscription was a shitshow then and would be disastorus now. People are wise to bullshit. There is no credibility in any institution. You know this.
