If you watch the entire episode the message of it is that preppers are complete and total losers who actively root for the end of the world because it's the only way they'll ever actually not be total losers.

The EMP comes and everyone in Springfield has a great time reconnecting to nature and the outside world while they wait for the power to come back on.

The preppers go to their compound and wait for doom that never arrives. They look like complete idiots at the end.

People keep picking and choosing scenes to fit their narrative but if you go watch the entire episode they're literally making fun of preppers for being complete idiots.
