During a depression, you can't eat gold. And nether can you sell it because nobody has any money to buy it. At best you might get 10% what you paid for it if the buyer realizes you're starving and desperate.

Also, after another world war and plague, there will be a surplus of available gold for sale after 90% of the world's population no longer exists.

Best thing to invest in now is a safe haven. Land. Farmable land. Forested land too (trees for heating fuel). And land far enough away from those that would want to harm you and take what you have from you. You'll want a good well on that land too. Act fast, time is running out to do so.
