The Trijicon RMR2 and the SRO are what I've narrowed it down to. I'm torn between the two.

It'll be topping a VP9L B-OR with Trijicon "Bright and Tough" suppressor height tritium Co-Witness iron sights.

Not exactly sure what you mean by 'SURGES'.

They're Mil-Spec optics and are tough as nails.

Personally I only put optics on rifles. I guess maybe I would consider one on a house pistol. No for carry tho imo. Especially ccw.

Either way Trijicon is top quality high dollar shit. I will never give up my acog.

Don’t buy one that takes batteries then. Tritium and or fiber optic light source only.

Go with Electrcoflux's new XH655-865×355-7 it's the tipptiy top of the line for that sort of thing. It's got a geothermic gauge and infrared capabilities with purchase and download from their online market place. Trijicon's VP977L B-ORR is also far superior to the OG one.

I had an acog and after 15 years the tritium went dead. The battery in my Aimpoint last 2 years. Much better to change batteries every two years than to be stuck with a sight and no illumination. My Aimpoint is beat to shit and still holds its zero.

That's a pretty good run, depending on the color.

The green tops out between 12-15 years.

Sro is not considered duty rated by trijicon, although its it's probably pretty close. Rmr with smallest dot possible for me. I actually prefer the holosun (eotech) style circle dot reticle but honestly either of your choices are great optics. Bigger window vs tougher is the real decision.

Battery life is a dumb topic. Don't buy the aimpoint acro, problem solved lol both of your choices are probably leave on all the time and replace every year or two. Bulk battery buy and you're set for life

Love my RMR2. Battery life is phenomenal. If you remove the sight to change the battery, you might have to check your zero again, so it does matter.

RMR are bombproof. Has passed all .mil tests with flying colors. Hard to go wrong with RMR -- but depending how you train etc... that open emitter is going to get filled with dirt, water, etc... and you won't be able to see shit.... but the RMR is still one of the OGs of the RDS for pistol use next to aimpoint...

SRO is a consumer grade optic. Not saying it sucks - It doesn't but - just setting expectations. It is definitely not the hardened optic that the RMR is - the SRO is fragile in comparison -- It will break far sooner than a 509, p1 p2 or rmr... skip it if it were my money.

Just a thought --

Reality - the enclosed emitters like a 509 or aimpoint p1/p2... are the way RDS's are headed -- so with that said -

check out the holosun 509 or the EPS - if you are considering the SRO -

Aimpoint P1 and P2 are bombproof - have a long history with mil and le use - not the optics themselves - I am referring to
Aimpoint products -

The new steiner mps is pretty bad ass as well -- the company is 'okay'... but the optic is great.

also - check out sage dynamics yt vids - does some brutal reviews ... that can also maybe direct your decision process.

Would EMPs be similar to lightning strikes if so, when using lightning rods like other generations before your parent's day, these push energy away from the place that needs to be protected? A rod is made up of a steel or iron rod with wires going off it to the ground which is grounding the energy spikes from any serge outside the residence. You could surround objects to test this, in testing don't use your best objects in the test of electric machines to saved or massacred. If it works then all that copper isn't needed.
