The news is desperate to sell groceries and panic.

They've been over hyping storms for the last ten years or so.

Get some of those Homer buckets - any 5 gallon buckets - put them out when the rains are still going but the winds have dies down

You can FLUSH ANY TOILET by pouring fast right into the hole - try it now!

For little kids - just fill the tank behind the bowl

ANY water is usable for flushing

HYGIENE is SUPER important when bacteria is rampant and medical
Care or drugs harder to get or get to

Go do it now people - I just started renovating an old house without a functioning toilet

Poured the bucket in - and WHOOSH - it FLUSHES just like usual

NO POWER NEEDED !

A house smells so much better when the bowl is clean

If the yellow gets high - works the same and flushes that down too

That's a great idea! And people should know that about flushing of course but I didn't think about collecting rainwater..

Just got back from topping off the tank. Finally found one station with gas, long line.

I’m back at home. There’s a light rain now, not sure if it’s Ian related our not. Getting ready to check the storms path on my local channel now.

South tampa and the million dollar homes there and along the gulf coast line will be devastated. Interestingly, the house Tom Brady is renting on Davis Island in downtown was set to be demolished. 22 million dollar home, maybe five years old, they’re going to demolish. They don’t have to worry about this storm lol.

Some of my neighbors have storm shutters on their windows. I have some left over ply wood I’ll put up tomorrow over my larger windows. Hopefully that helps.

Also tomorrow will take a video of the inside/outside of my home and my car for insurance purposes.

It feels surreal.

Can anyone tell me how I can post video or pictures?

Fill bathtub; make sure it holds water (silicon chalk for drain or use similar). Use it to flush toilet tank if needed.

I have plenty of bottled water and I’m going to fill up the bath tubs in case we need water for the toilets, etc. thanks for the tip though. I don’t think you could even find water at this point.

I was talking to a Sam's manager today, asking her if she was born here. Did she remember not being terrorized for the week leading up to every storm that moves through the Gulf...she did

But she "loves" the way it is now, she even said, "But I love it. For sales". Lol!

Sales skyrocketed on Friday past.

And what about millions of people focusing on every storm that moves through the Gulf. What does that do??

Maybe you live around a lot of transplants? They're really freaking out and adding to the hysteria

Fill up empty 2-liter water bottles or balloons with water and stick them in your freezer now to keep your food cold when the power goes out. Bigger blocks of ice last longer.

Ice is important after a hurricane - and fresh COLD water to drink when it melts!

Be safe most importantly OP! Some of us didn’t have water for a month when Micheal hit. Takes forever. I appreciate the lineman’s hard work. National Guards were awesome and extremely helpful. A lot of food trucks and stuff for babies. I was amazed with how they organized quickly. Everything will seem like slow motion until it’s not. Praying for you all. Oh and FEMA was pathetic. Watch out for the scammers with repairs and tree service people. They are out there. Looking forward to updates. AT&T was the only service up. Verizon set up little stations for service 3-4 days later. Just some things to think about. Hope this helps

I was in tamle 4 or 5 years aho when a smaller hurricane came through.

The powerbox on the side of my buddies house exploded. It sounded like a bomb went off.
