The Norwegian press had reported last week that unidentified drones had been spotted at at least six Equinor facilities, including the giant Johan Sverdrup oil field.

Last Tuesday, a drone was found 50m away from Equinor's Heidrun platform in the North Sea, breaching the 500m security perimeter.

"Drones have been observed at some of our facilities on the Norwegian continental shelf," said a spokesperson for the company, which has reported the incident to Norwegian authorities, including PSA and the police.

Drones have also been observed near other facilities.
