Meyers, right on the water and Ian is bearing down on them directly, the outer whips lashing their homes and boards are flying off as we speak. Quoting: The_Meridian Water is coming through one front door, (My Mom's) and no way to the roof, and would probably blow away even if they could get up there. The worst is yet to come. Please pray for EVERYONE at Peril on the Gulf Coast. I fear it may be a long while before I can establish whether or not they made it through once comm goes all the way down, which I suspect will be sooner not later :( Dark times. All directed, positive energies mental and spiritual much appreciated. Thanks for this thread, OP. I have 2 brothers in the same range and we're expecting 12-18 ft storm surge at my parents' house (thankfully they evacuated). Power was out before the eye wall hit land. Sending prayers for everyone down there. |

Literally *all* of the worst of it, all of the dark red, passed entirely over their little slice of town. Trying to balance dread and optimism. I will say this: the storm took a hard-right turn and broke a little and it looks like the worst of it will be over for her area very soon...moving on to the yellow. I really just can't guess what "The Worst" actually means or if the red is always the worst or the wind might not be where the red is...don't know. User ID: 76782502 United States 09/28/2022 05:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm a former Florida resident and the threat of hurricanes was one of the reasons that I left the state. I was there the summer they had 5 hurricanes back in the eary 2000s. One of the them was Cat. 4 Charlie. I was in the St. Pete area at the time and had to make a decision as to whether to leave or stay in St. Pete. They were still unsure the direction it would take. I opted to bail to Orlando and the storm ended up going there. Fortunately I made it to a shelter, but the metal roof was rattling from the 100 mph winds. The roof held though. Thoughts and prayers to those of you there. If you are in a multi-story building it is probably safer to be on the lower levels unless of course incoming water makes that impossible. Rooves flying off are not conducive to survival. Ok Here’s one example for you My sister and husband sold their condo in Florida Closing was scheduled for Tuesday- And they had plans to hit the road to a new house in Virginia near grandkids Packers came and packed it all up Monday Then the MOVERS CANCELED Monday night or Tuesday am So - there they sit - all Packed and ready - but couldn’t leave and roads clogged too FAST once they knew about the delay They are riding out the storm because they have no choice |
