My daughter lives in Charleston. She is far enough inland to hopefully be ok. I have ridden out cat 2 hurricanes a few times and it wasn't to bad other then downtown flooding.
 Quoting: kdog82

My daughter also lives in Charleston. This will be her first hurricane since moving there.
 Quoting: grannyB

My daughter lived there. Years ago there was a hurricane watch....Charleston was told to evacuate. So she and her boyfriend took their cat and drove west in bumper to bumper traffic for endless hours with a cat crying all the way.

Hurricane never occurred.

That is the crazy thing - you don't know!

$20 the east coast gets hit worse so the Biden puppertmasters can ignore FL completely.
My posts that can be misconstrued as "extreme" and/or "radical" are satirical.

But if it had she would be glad they at least tried to get away. You kinda have to leave when you first hear about it. Be ready with everything organized to go. I did that when the season rolled around.

So true. But better safe than sorry. Hoping it doesn't get any stronger.
At least she's living on the second floor and has friends in the building and others nearby.

I'm in Anderson sc and the wind here was insane! Hopefully the old oaks around my house stay put. Several neighbors already had limbs down today. We had a big one fall yesterday. Glad we haven't replaced the roof just yet. I have a friend near the coast in Charleston. Not her first hurricane. Still worry for her though. My friends family is in Cape Coral Florida and they're all ok. That entire coast is wrecked.

I am in Asheville, but no wind here yet. I saw they've closed parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway and preparing for floods. So waiting. To see what happens in Charleston and how much of the storm makes it's way into the mountains.

Lived on the coast of SC my entire life and have never evacuated. I did minimum perpetrations, a few bungee cords and a couple of sandbags. That alone was a waste of my time. Chainsaw is greased and ready to assist neighbors and utility workers.

I rode out Hugo (Cat 4) when we lived there. We sure wished we had left. It was scary even 20 miles inland.

Re: Hurricane Ian: SC - NC Edition
Be aware these weather people are liars. They try to overhype weak storms and underhype strong storms to get people killed, evac from safe places to more dangerous areas. This might be like Katrina and strengthen at the last second, it wasn’t even spose to be category 1 and it is already. No doubt it will land on a republican state like South Carolina or Georgia and avoid North Carolina so they will misforcast it on purpose to kill more and make the governors look bad. I would take extreme caution in coastal areas.

NC governor already put in for state of emergency...Cooper is a POS and will likely pocket some of the Fed funding
