Re: Hurricane Ian: SC - NC Edition
Be aware these weather people are liars. They try to overhype weak storms and underhype strong storms to get people killed, evac from safe places to more dangerous areas. This might be like Katrina and strengthen at the last second, it wasn’t even spose to be category 1 and it is already. No doubt it will land on a republican state like South Carolina or Georgia and avoid North Carolina so they will misforcast it on purpose to kill more and make the governors look bad. I would take extreme caution in coastal areas.

My daughter lives in Charleston. She is far enough inland to hopefully be ok. I have ridden out cat 2 hurricanes a few times and it wasn't to bad other then downtown flooding.

I'm in mount pleasant and well prepared. The bridges will be shut down by daylight but if yours or anyone needs anything east of the cooper let me know and I can help.

Hey neighbor, I'm in Mt Pleasant too. Carolina Park at the north side of Mt P. BTW, we're looking to move to Simpsonville and buy a farm. Too many libtard fuckheads around Mt Pleasant.

I use this to stalk hurricanes and movement and wind km per hour!

[link to earth.nullschool.net (secure)]

I find it interesting the increase in wind speed today!!

I also find it interesting that forecasts in SC still don’t know exactly WTH is going on!!!

They are steering Ian!!! And maximizing it!!!!

It seems like something is going on for sure. I've told my daughter a few times I don't like this storm because it just isn't acting right. Couldn't really put my finger on it,

I'm in Simpsonville. You had better hurry, if you want a farm up here. National Builders are buying up all of the farmland to develop for housing!

Good morning Empress!

It seems they are forcasting it to make landfall near Myrtle Beach. I really hope it doesn't get too bad.

Wishing everyone a best case scenario!

Re: Hurricane Ian: SC - NC Edition
I'm in Western SC, just north of Augusta, Ga. and thus far just lots of wind, all day yesterday, slowed down last night, and it's picking up again now.

No rain, and it's been an incredibly dry summer, scary dry in our area out by a national forest, I'm just hoping we get some rain from all this.

Prepped for power outages, but will follow this thread as I can.

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 800 AM EDT (1200 UTC), the center of Hurricane Ian was located
near latitude 31.4 North, longitude 79.1 West. Ian is moving toward
the north near 9 mph (15 km/h). This general motion with an
increase in forward speed is expected this morning, followed by a
turn toward the north-northwest by tonight. On the forecast track,
the center of Ian will approach and reach the coast of South
Carolina today, and then move farther inland across eastern South
Carolina and central North Carolina tonight and Saturday.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher
gusts. Little change in strength is expected before Ian reaches the
coast later today. Rapid weakening is expected after landfall, and
Ian is forecast to become an extratropical low over North Carolina
tonight or on Saturday. The low is then expected to dissipate by
Saturday night.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from
the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 485
miles (780 km). A sustained wind of 40 mph (65 km/h) and a gust to
58 mph (93 km/h) were recently reported at a WeatherFlow
station on Fort Sumter Range Front Light in South Carolina.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 984 mb (29.06 inches).

Hello Empress, we are in the mountains too, Madison county Nc. Worked late last night to finish a job and get my equipment home. I’m more concerned about a ww3 deceleration this weekend than I am about the storm. It’s nice to hear from other glpr’s in the area. Fare the well!
