What exactly does this mean?

Are there criteria for when it gets flown?
 Quoting: Coldkidc

"They were designed as mobile airborne operations units specifically designed to emit command and control codes to the United States intercontinental ballistic missile systems (ICBM) on the ground in the event of an attack on the United States by the Soviet Union".

It won't let me post the link for some reason.

Who is "KU"? And why should we care if he/she is playing (or what is being played) at home?

Actually Cheyenne Mtn. do you remember this?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80609517

Mount Weather isn't secret anymore has not been secret since the 1990s under Bill Clinton. It is used for FEMA headquarters now. I think there is some more working out of there also. Greenbriar Hotel has something to do with emergency things along with other things. They were building new ones back then.

Just checked Europe. Zero mil activity. On small planes. Stratotankers, helicopters or spyplanes. Nothing at all showing up. Unprecedented.

Conus traffic was light but not as deserted as before. Just disturbing to see not a single military craft in the entire European theater or Eurasian aloft at that.

The fact that we all still have electronics should put every one at ease.

I've said this before...the playbook calls for multiple HEMP bursts(not weed BTW). HIGH altitude EMPs. We would do the same to them. EMPs are much more damaging at higher latitudes, so we would be able to cook off their grid too. You Aussie's aren't as likely to be EMPd. Satellite based weapons would be deployed, no missiles needed.

They have to kill our civilian comms before the candles start popping off.

So if you lose power, your cel phone is dead and your car won't start, then you can worry.

If only one E-6 is in the air and the E-4 is not, then there is no cause for concern. These planes are in the air all the time even when there is no crisis.

Re: Looking Glass is airborne
For background, there are 16 of these E-6B Mercury aircraft operating as Looking Glass stationed at Travis and Patuxent River. They are always on alert and usually airborne 24/7 so that they are always survivable.

The aircraft fly from these bases to predetermined orbit points over the ocean and hold there in a series of slow 25°-40° banks for six to ten hour missions. They can also refuel and stay up longer.

This one is out of Pax River and is on one of these routine station missions over the Atlantic. If it was anything out of the ordinary, they would not be broadcasting ADSB-2 for all to see.

If the guy next to the B-2 Airforce base is to be believed and not LARPING, they locked down the base and launched the B-2s.

You are most likely correct. But remember the mass majority of the world is on Facebook or twitter discussing pumpkin spice latte day and not tracking the impending doom that is the result of the posturing between Russia and the west. Curious that china is silent. Maybe Putin will turn Beijing into a glass parkinglot and spare the west in a shocking move.

All you know-it-alls are forgetting one thing...Russia doesn't follow our protocols.

Our protocols are simply our best SOPs for keeping Russia in check. But Russia isn't going to communicate a first strike decision to enable us to follow our text book response plans.

Get your heads out of that place where the sun don't shine.

The fact there is no military flight activity in EU right now IS SIGNIFICANT but who knows what, if anything, happens next.
