Update 10/4 8pm 80% chance in 5 days, pg2 It sucks, we still have about 8-9 weeks before the season ends, thats time enough to get hammered a couple more times. I have lived in Florida since 1972, we never used to get storms like this ever. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78471573 FYI, the strongest recorded storm to ever hit the continental US was the 1935 Labor Day Storm that hit the Florida keys. It recorded 185 mph winds before all the wind gauges broke. [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] Last Edited by Remedial_Rebel on 10/02/2022 06:00 PM |

Update 10/4 8pm 80% chance in 5 days, pg2 8 pm Update 2. East of the Windward Islands: Showers and thunderstorms are showing some signs of organization in association with a tropical wave located several hundred miles east of the Windward Islands. Further development of the wave is possible, and a tropical depression could form during the next few days while it moves generally westward at 15 to 20 mph, reaching the Windward Islands and the eastern Caribbean Sea by midweek. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...30 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent. Update 10/4 8pm 80% chance in 5 days, pg2 NHC has raised the chances to 80% to develop. Most models have it headed toward Nicaragua. Hope that's true. 1. East of the Windward Islands: A broad area of low pressure located just east of the Windward Islands continues to produce a large area of showers and thunderstorms. Earlier data from the Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters indicated that the system did not yet possess a well-defined circulation center, with the majority of the shower and thunderstorm activity displaced to the southeast of the broader rotation. However, upper-level winds are forecast to become more conducive for development, and a tropical depression is likely to form over the next several days if the system remains over open waters while moving westward at about 15 mph through the Windward Islands and into the Caribbean Sea. Another Air Force Reconnaissance mission is scheduled to investigate this system tomorrow morning, if necessary. Regardless of development, heavy rainfall with localized flooding, as well as gusty winds, are expected over portions of the Windward Islands, northern portions of South America, and the ABC Islands during the next couple of days. Interests in those locations, in addition to those in Central America, should continue to monitor the progress of this system. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent. The Global Forecasting System GFS (model) has it turning and hitting the Yucatan Peninsula as a Cat 3. Click the play button [link to www.ventusky.com (secure)] If turns just a little more, it will enter the gulf of Mexico. Last Edited by Remedial_Rebel on 10/04/2022 11:02 PM |
