The demolition of the World Trade Center brought the U.S. economy to a halt, and Bush had to go on television to beg the American people to start shopping again.
All it would take today to bring a country down is nuking one major city, and it would paralyze the entire country. Everybody would be afraid to move around.
England could be taken down by nuking a part of London.
Russia could be taken down by nuking part of Moscow.
and so on...
