Railroads used to have towers and analog switches to keep trains for hitting each other, along with many trained tower operators. Today most of tye towers and their operators are gone, replaces with sensors and digital switches. If the Internet goes away, the trains collide or don't run. Understand Internet means far more than just Facebook. It means our infrastructure fails, and we die. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84181513 We're left with surveillance that they call the internet. The internet actually died when it went form being many independent sites and online communities that had their own integrated chat to being consolidated into the twitter/facebook sphere. Meta and corporations commercializing the net killed it, the click began to drive the content; the tail wagging the dog. Things were a lot more organic and grass root back in the day.
