I got this with my 8-in telescope and an older camera, a Canon t5i. I now have an 11-in telescope with a black magic camera but I haven't had a chance to reattempt this.

It's an engineering camera. The purpose isn't to provide pretty pictures, the purpose is to monitor the satellite itself, they're probably primarily concerned with watching how they separate and whether there's any recontact between satellites. The Falcon 9 Literally flings them off the second stage when they deploy. It was likely engineered for robustness, not high resolution or any other aesthetic attributes.
