I had to go through the video frame by frame to see what really happened.

Idiot cop pulled his service weapon so fast the poor kid spaz panicked.

Idiot cop starts blazing away.

I dunno, maybe idiot cop thought panicked kid was reaching for his assault fries.

Idiot cop should be shopping for a cornhole stretcher.

The vehicle passenger was charged...

Cantu was charged by proxy with evading detention in a vehicle and assault on an officer.

Holy hell this is bullshit.

Erik Cantu, 17, put the vehicle in reverse with the door still open and started driving, the report said. The door hit Brennand, and that’s when he opened fire.

Cantu then shifted to drive forward and tried to drive away, and Brennand continued to fire into the back of the car.

OK, that’s what happened.

Idiot friend got the kid shot to pieces.

The COP shot the kid.

It's not his friends fault, or the training, or the funding, or the current phases of the moon.

The COP did this.

there are two phases of any cop-citizen interaction.

after he is convinced any threat against his person is more likely to come from outside the vehicle/current interaction and before.

people really need to remember this. change what little you can when you can, or nothing will ever improve for very long.

i didnt watch the video

not a "if he did X he would be alive today" quip just facts i thought would be relevant. im usually correct.

nothing obvious isnt obvious here clearly

thanks to people who lie and any person with a gun and uniform can walk up to an unsuspecting person and disarm/abduct them 99% foolproof, these things can and will happen. there is nothing that can be "just done" to prevent the general thing from happening in any free society.

this was preventable yes. "matching suspect" is a threshold used for determining how much more likely use of deadly force may be required (hence later "justified") in: questioning, traffic stops, and detainment. he should have called for backup (if it was available), parked behind the suspect, and used his bullhorn/voice to instruct him to show his hands outside of the window after (more or less) determining only the driver was in the vehicle before ever leaving his own if the "matching suspect"/threat to life due to likely felon factor was in play. not sure if the computers scan/keep track of license plates "real time" ie. plates and descriptions of recently stopped/pursued vehicles are "right there" for him to check to determine the "threat level" for his own wellbeing at minimum before engaging but clearly there should be.

provided the assertion that he recognized a vehicle that matched the description of a reckless felon within 24 hours is not a lie, it is a fact that will have merit in upcoming deliberation

no opinion here, just facts and procedure as they are currently.

San Antonio police officer fired after shooting teen suspect in McDonald's parking lot

[link to www.sacurrent.com (secure)]
 Quoting: ScrumpTheTexan

Let's hope the kid's suit gets a Republican judge. If you are a gangster and tell the jury some dude got over on you the night before and you were just getting even, the charge becomes capital...the bad news is that in TX you can get a soros liberal judge (common in the big cities) that lets the cop walk or a real TX judge that tosses the book...difficulty becomes that counties in TX that are very conservative tend to have DA's that wont prosecute cops...im guessing that if this has happened in Williamson County TX the body cam footage would have been destroyed within 120 minutes of the event thus protecting the DA...I could be wrong about this but I have my doubts.

Others have commented that this is the result of de-funding police, and it's not wrong. Policing is hard because you are required to be able to get it right even when your life is in danger. That takes lots of vetting, training, and experience. Many people doing the hard job of police are not well qualified...Funny thing is that 2 decades ago the liberals had it right...pay cops a lot more in order to make the job valuable, and get the right people on the force doing it...defund the police indeed...SMH

Great points, but at no point did he need to apprehend the suspect in that manner. Their was plenty of time for backup to arrive and handle that differently.

Yeah you could see the guys hands the whole time and he never threatened the cop. Looked like a hit? Kill him on purpose because he was getting out?
Here is a little more on the story. There was also a female passenger in the car and I can't find anything definitive as to the condition of the victim;

[link to www.ksat.com (secure)]

This cop not only lied about the car hitting him, apparently he called for back up before engaging the occupants and then stupidly opened the car door startling the driver. Who the hell wouldn't be startled, perhaps they thought they were being car jacked...who the heck knows, the idiot cop never bothered to identify himself before unloading his gun into the body of the hamburger eating kid!

What a shame...

I've always been afraid of police, but this is next level.

Not like I go to places where real trouble is, but every once in a while I find myself around some shady characters and even though it puts me on high alert, it's still not the same kind of stress as being within sight of police.

Having said that, some people broke into my house, while I was gone, a few years ago. I came home, saw them in there, and instead of engaging, called the Sheriffs. They came out in force and did an amazing of taking away scumbags in handcuffs.

So... not all cops are bad. But since you never know beforehand which ones are terrible, they all scare me.
