Shamban & Company" I worked for W.S. Shamban in the 1980s, we produced teflon seals. Teflon is actually a pretty dangerous substance because it's fluorine bound to carbon, extremely strong chemical bonds, which means they're aren't attracted to anything else. That's why nothing sticks to Teflon. Fluorine gas is *highly* reactive, it can kill you. So I worked in the production of the seals, with lithium and teflon, etc. We always kept the lithium in either an oil bath or ether, so it couldn't react with air. One day my new supervisor, who knew nothing about chemicals (I was a CE major), disregarded the safety protocols because he didn't want to wear gloves. So he got some teflon powder on his hands, which got on his cigarette, which was hot enough to vaporize the teflon into its base components, and he got a dose of fluorine gas. And that was it. He got sicker than shit within an hour, ambulance came and take him away. Never came back. He didn't die but he was done with the job. |

The electric grid doesn't have anything close to the capacity, there's not enough raw materials, the technology isn't refined. The batteries themselves age internally if they're not made *exactly* right. You'll see soon enough. |

I've been in pouring rain, hail, snow...name it....no probs.... I've driven Teslas, they're awesome but I would never buy one. Yup, cars exploding all over Florida stacked up at charging stations, and paying $20K for replacement batteries which are going to $100K soon, but I'm the dumbass. |

You see any off-road EVs? these battery cases are going to age and crack, they're going to get damaged in accidents, etc. There was an electric Jeep Wrangler at the dealership today. So yes, off road EV was seen. ………… For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.….. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84335655 I saw this experiment in high school, we had a substitute teacher that day and he actually blew up the water beaker by accident and cut a couple of students. Back in 2009 or so, this guy I was acquainted with (we had briefly played in a band together) used my name to get hired as a HS chemistry teacher. (I did not recommend him, didn't know he used my name to get in) First week of school, numbnuts tried to do an experiment, started a FIRE and got the entire school evacuated, fire department came, the entire school was outside for like 2 hours. After that all these people kept asking me about that guy... "Hey I heard you are friends with the chemistry teacher that set the lab room on fire." Thanks dude. I've accidenally soaked myself in gasoline before and nothing happened to me. I took a shower and that was that. Now if lithium battery leaked on me, I wouldn't be typing this rihght now. |
