Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24983528 The Inquire literally has more credibility. So you are saying this is "fake news" and it didn't happen because you don't like who reported it? Fuck off with that lame excuse. This is being reported in multiple sources worldwide today, with names. That said, I'm pretty sure you won't be seeing this reported in any Russian State Media propaganda outlets. |

The two unidentified men arrived in Gambell by boat on Tuesday. By Wednesday morning, they were transferred to Anchorage, according to U.S. Coast Guard officials. According to Alaska’s News Source, officials in Gambell said the men told locals they were fleeing the Russian military. Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan identified the duo as “Russian nationals” in a Thursday statement, saying both had requested asylum in the United States. “This incident makes two things clear: First, the Russian people don’t want to fight Putin’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Second, given Alaska’s proximity to Russia, our state has a vital role to play in securing America’s national security,” Sullivan said. Murkowski noted that the federal response was “lacking,” calling for additional federal resources to be sent to Alaska. “Only local officials and state law enforcement had the capability to immediately respond to the asylum seekers, while Customs and Border Protection had to dispatch a Coast Guard aircraft from over 750 miles away to get on scene,” Murkowski said. “This situation underscores the need for a stronger security posture in America’s Arctic, which I have championed throughout my time in the Senate.” [link to www.ktoo.org (secure)] |

Lisa Murkowski's office said Thursday. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83619470 Karina Borger, a Murkowski spokesperson, by email said the office has been in communication with the U.S. Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection and that "the Russian nationals reported that they fled one of the coastal communities on the east coast of Russia to avoid compulsory military service." Spokespersons with the Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection referred a reporter's questions to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security public affairs office, which provided little information Thursday. The office, in a statement, said the people "were transported to Anchorage for inspection, which includes a screening and vetting process, and then subsequently processed in accordance with applicable U.S. immigration laws under the Immigration and Nationality Act." The agency said the two Russians arrived Tuesday on a small boat. It did not provide details on where they came from, their journey or the asylum request. It was not immediately clear what kind of boat they were on. Sullivan, in a statement, said he has encouraged federal authorities to have a plan in place in case "more Russians flee to Bering Strait communities in Alaska." "This incident makes two things clear: First, the Russian people don't want to fight Putin's war of aggression against Ukraine," Sullivan said. "Second, given Alaska's proximity to Russia, our state has a vital role to play in securing America's national security." They will be flying there and then sneaking across our border. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80236437 https://twitter.com/_/status/1578128836855824401 Personally, I would welcome them. |

If anyone needs it...it would be them! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84339960 Not the invaders coming in just for free stuff! They have requested asylum. You know if they were deported back to Russia they would be put to hard labor at a penal colony and possibly tortured and executed. |
