The feedback might be well deserved, but the men aren’t doing much better in one regard. My single most important qualifier in a man is if he’d make a good father.

A good teacher to our children, can fix stuff around the house, has the know how and encyclopedic tidbits of knowledge that make dads awesome

He is stern and even tempered. Not afraid of correcting or disciplining them (not physically)

You just sunk your own boat, lady. The reason you are having so much difficulty in finding a proper husband is that in recent years most children are NOT physically disciplined in their formative years. No matter how much your “feels” might abhor it, that is what is needed and required to turn out men worthy of the name.

I feel like I don’t belong in today’s timeline, however. I crave a strong, old school man. My generation’s version of that is a caricature of masculinity: hyper ‘alphas’; ‘pick up artists’, status obsessed; consumerist; metrosexual; city rats; meatheads.

On the other hand, the ‘Nice Guys’ who wouldn’t hurt a fly are spineless, porn ridden, non stop gamers with no real life ambition or desire to have children because they want to watch Marvel movies in their spare time.

I have 3 children and a step son.

None were beaten. They turned out fine. Working

men! And my daughter is also a good worker.

None ever got in trouble with any authority figure.

I taught them to understand their place.

You DO NOT have to beat kids to make them understand.

While married we did pretty good for a while.

It lasted 15 years.

Of course, we weren't rich or anything.

I did have setbacks after my job was eliminated.

Then I divorced their mom because I had to and we had some

rough times afterwards. They understood the situation.

Poverty does not mean you lose your understanding

of 'treat others as you want to be treated'.

We hit that part and it was rough, but they never turned

to crime or any thing like that.

They are well balanced individuals living their life.

I'm proud of who they are and am still encouraging them

to do better for themselves.
