Per my workplace, a university medical center: One of our in-campus presentations on Microsoft Teams, in late 2020, included a section about covid patients getting low blood oxygen they could not detect via feeling any symptoms. The presentation indicated that the lack of being able to notice low O2 might keep people from coming to the emergency room when needed. One faculty/doctor/researcher threw in a comment that immunocompromised people was a group at risk of not being able to detect symptoms of low blood oxygen. He threw in some explanation for this but I didn’t pay attention.

(To add: He also said super morbidly obese wouldn’t notice if breathing was already an issue for them. I suppose he didn’t mention lung illnesses due to the obviousness.)

I have no idea if being immunocompromised in a particular fashion or in any fashion makes lowering blood oxygen more likely, or if it makes it more likely to not notice low blood oxygen if it happens. The man that spoke could have been an emotional nut job going all out on the covid train. Regardless, if you aren’t monitoring your blood oxygen at home, please consider doing so if you can get a finger monitor at your local pharmacy.
