Where does the idea of sacrificing your first born to God come from?

Is there really this great of a lack of knowledge about this issue on here? Surely, I assumed there were more well-read Christians who knew the topic.

Noone in J or Christianity is called to sacrifice their firstborn.

God said that all firstborns were His since He redeemed them in Egypt. He killed all Egyptian firstborn and spared the Israelites'.

He commanded that the Israelites present an offering that would be sacrificed when they gave birth to their firstborn. Before they had even reached the land of Canaan, God stated that instead of the firstborn of every male, He would take the Levites as His firstborn in their place.

It was over before it even started.
