EVERYONE is religious. Some have their faith in the God of the bible. Some have their faith in the government or themselves as the all-knowing god.

I think they WANT to be submissive. It's their aim. What they believe, however, is tempered through the lens of society. A 17 or 18th century American clergyman would take testimony to burn witches. It was their society.

Another one would drink Koolaid in some Guyana forest compound. It was part of their particular society to do what the leader said.

And some would wait for heaven's gate to open up as a comet soars by.

And today it's still tempered by society. You find all kinds of sexual beliefs in religious leaders that would have been condemned 20 years ago.

Even 60 years ago, a divorced and remarried religious leader was a scandalous thing. Now, it means nothing.

Tattoos? Only a few years ago did those who read the command not to tattoo or pierce your body was thrown out. Religous people end up doing whatever society agrees with...it's just that it comes into practice a few years later.

A friend of mine was a Baptist from the UK. She went to a Baptist church when first coming to the US in the 1980s. She was SHOCKED that the women there were wearing makeup. Good Christian women didn't do that. And the Baptists there were equally shocked that my friend drank alcohol.

Their practices reflect the society around them...except for their rhetoric that they largely ignore for themselves, they are typically no different than anyone else. They aren't remarkable at all.

Even one of the leading disciples of Jesus said that "Your righteousness is as dirty rags." If you research the word righteousness you will find that is the word for "religion".

To most of us that have an actual relationship with The Father, through Jesus, "religion" is a dirty word. A word that represents, mostly, a way to use things that surround The Father and The Son as either a weapon against personal enemies or a way to justify crimes (both societal and financial).

Your typings tell me you understand none of this and only see the surface of the religitards that have turned many such as yourself away from God.

Like it or not, you will meet him. My guess is you'll get a "Get thee behind me! I never knew you." at that point.

Most religions don't even follow their own rules, much less so, Gods rules.

I am not urging you to become religious. Religion won't save you. If fact, it probably will torch your life and your salvation.

Relationship is not religion. Get a clue and save yourself. The free gift of salvation is there for you. You cannot claim it by being religious or anti-religious. You can only claim it by having a relationship.

What do you believe in OP? Yourself? In 100 years, where will you be? Who's to say you were ever real? Why not give people something a bit more grand to believe in, at the modest expense of having to deal with people who aren't quite as strong as yourself.
