You’re right, they shouldn’t have killed the snake. Reptiles have a sense of what others of their species are feeling. Therefore, the best course of action would have been to restrain the snake and torture it via electric shock for, oh, several weeks, making sure it was fed at intervals so that it didn’t die. The signals picked up by other snakes would either lure them in where they could be killed, or would drive them away.

There is a black and white photo on the net somewhere taken in the 40s from a light aircraft of a massive snake jumping up from the tree tops trying to catch the plane fkn thing was huge .

My grandfather told me a story about a huge snake they had to kill in ww2 in Africa while stationed there , i did not believe it until i saw that picture years ago
