Top China watcher: Why is U.S. not reacting as Beijing prepares for war?

Here is my guess, the Biden admin already gave china the go ahead on Taiwan.

When it happens the biden admin will act like they care but wont do anything.

The US has been increasing arms shipments to Taiwan, there was also a recent article about the Pentagon thinking an attack on Taiwan could come as early as before the end of the year.

I do not think the usa could stop china from taking Taiwan if China did a full invasion.. So in reality the USA would only use the Taiwan invasion to isolate/financially constrain and demonize China.

Weak? His withdrawal from Afghanistan would be shameful if it weren't so tragic. Abandoning American citizens, allies, and enough armaments to catapult the Taliban into the top 10 of most armed nations in the world was a lesson in humiliation and signal to that the U.S. is no longer a reliable or responsible superpower. Russia, China, and North Korea watched that with pure amazement (they were too taken aback to be gleeful) while Ukraine, Taiwan, and South Korea saw that their putative defender will not save them.

Foolish? I present Admiral Richard Levine and woke General Mark Milley - these are not serious representations or projections of military power. (I know, Levine is only the health secretary but tell that to China and Russia - all they see is the picture of him in his dress blues uniform with skirt and heels). Add to that Col. Vindman testifying in uniform - a pasty faced ukrainian dumpling, that's our fighting force? That's the perception.

Respected? Even our erstwhile ally Saudi Arabia in the form of MBS openly laughs in our face and ridicules our geriatric completely undistinguished (what has he really accomplished besides enriching himself via 50 years at the public coffers?) president.

I honestly believe the US, at its highest level, does not think it is "pushing war" - I think they unquestioningly believe our words are a credible deterrent... that the US is still the "indispensible nation." We are not - see above re: weak, foolish, and not respected.

The USA is obviously trying to lure China into a war, just like they did with Russia.

But the situation is different and the Chinese aren't stupid either. They know it too.

They might be forced to do that if the US crosses a red line, but otherwise they will try to keep the peace as long as possible.

Your thinking is based on an outdated fallacy that the US is aiming for peace.

That it's not tye case should be obvious at least since 2001.

I disagree with "lure" - why would the US want a two front war? Ukraine AND Taiwan? And then throw South Korea into the mix with Kim's unanswered (not even condemned) missile launches? (in fact that is the only industry Biden has singlehandedly revived - the NK missile launch industry)

As I wrote above, the top levels of the US government still think their word is bond and is sufficient projection of deterrent power. We have no good or reliable intelligence to indicate otherwise since the CIA (and domestically the FBI) have been turned into political weapons to hunt phantom domestic terrorists (if they are caucasian) and those guilty of political wrong-think or using the unpreferred pronoun... But go back in time and when was our vaunted intelligence ever correct? Did they get Vietnam right? How about the fall of the Berlin wall or the Soviet Union? 9/11 and Osama Bin Ladin? Afghanistan?
Washington is a hermetically sealed echo chamber and we the people (as always) are about to pay the price for that...

I think I figured it out.

The Deep State has been trying unsucessfully to disarm the American people. You can't take over the world and grind them under your boot heel if they all have rifles.

At first they tried to make ammo disappear from all the store shelves. They did a pretty good job of this, but it was too late. People already had enough of an ammo supply to wipe out the deep state a hundred times over.

So they will simply destroy the country that we live in and kill us off with hunger and disease. Problem solved! When we are dead, they will throw our guns into a blast furnace and make prison bars out of them.

Then they can take over the world and build back better... without freedom loving, heavily armed folks like us to muck up the works.

Why a revolution has not started yet is beyond my comprehension.

Xi is sidelined by other factions in his country, rumor is he wanted to go after Taiwan, BUT the other faction wants to go after Russia while they are weakened, which would not cause the same uproar as Taiwan either and gaining Russia naturally rich resources

They can have another war like that, or 2, or 5. They don't care.
