Apparently police responded to the Pelosi residence for a welfare check. No mention of 911 call nor burglar alarm. A two o'clock in the morning welfare check ?

No mention of how police entered the residence nor exactly where they found Mr. Pelosi and the suspect. It was said that on arrival that the hammer was observed in the possession of Pelosi. Did he pick it up for protection ?

At some point the hammer ended up in the suspect's possession and an attack ensued. Police tackled the suspect and he was placed into custody.
