Jesus Christ is the English/Anglicized “nickname”

german7 “nickname” I'll just assume that you haven't had your morning cup of tea yet. I have no desire to micro-manage what people say, nor no right to do so. But what I am saying is that we are called Christians and our Lord's name is Jesus Christ.

Re: Beware of people who call Jesus Christ by another name.
Yeshua translated to Jesus in English are both names for the "I am"
Which is God or Son of God which was foretold in the Old testament.

Isaiah 9
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Huh? Whose ass did you pull that nonsense out of?

How about you go talk to someone that actually speaks the language?

Yeshua means salvation or to rescue. WHEN YOU TRANSLATE IT IT STILL MEANS SALVATION OR TO RESCUE. WHEN YOU TRANSLATE THE NAME YESHUA IT IS TRANSLATED YESHUA. Names do not translate tard! They are names.

If you go to China do you introduce yourself as your name or do you ask how to say your name in Chinese? Spoiler… your name doesn’t change no matter what the language.

Re: Beware of people who call Jesus Christ by another name.
although I agree with you...

Jesus, in English

Yeshua, in Aramaic (what He was called back then)

I do not believe His name is Jesus Christ.
Christ is what he Was/is: The Christ (A Title)

Putting them together like that, I think, is incorrect...it makes it appear as if that is His last name. He did not have one. People back then had 1 name...and for better detail they would say "Son of.." and add the person's Father's name..

So I agree with you...but not the last name...

If you say Jesus The Christ..you are more accurate.

anyways, God Bles you! hf

You do know that the original text says yeshua correct? The name Jesus is only a few hundred years old 1632 to be exact.

You can literally find old bibles that say yeshua NOT Jesus.

Why are you people so stupid? Why do you disagree with everything prior to 1632, biblical scholars, original texts, and people that still can speak the language that was spoken at the time?

What gives?

The problem i see here is people are PISSED that they were taught the WRONG name for the last 400 years.

NO SCRIPTURE, NO BIBLE USED THE NAME JESUS PRIOR TO 1632.

FACT

***CHALANGE***
Please SHOW US where the name JESUS existed used prior to 1632.

How low does your IQ have to be to not grasp this concept?

Your church just changed the “Our Father” prayer because they admitted it did not make sense after 2000 years.

Why? Because it is grossly mistranslated. The REAL prayer that “Jesus” taught is different than what you were taught. Do some research and read it in his native language and the correct translation by modern biblical SCHOLARS. The real prayer DOES NOT CHANGE!

I understand you’re pissed because what you were taught is wrong.

Answer me this. What’s your name in Chinese? Or Greek? Or any language?

It doesn’t matter unless someone says it wrong…

The major problem is when meanings were mistranslated. If your menu in ancient language says eggs and bacon and you order it in your screwed up translation and get and egg and an egg and a potato that is a problem.

I don’t think your brain is developed enough to understand.

It doesn’t matter because the Aramaic name never changed.

It’s a NAME. Names don’t change unless they are mistranslated.

The mistranslation comes from the meaning of the name not the pronunciation of the name. The pronunciation stays the same as your name stays the same if you introduce yourself in Chinese. There is NO Chinese translation for your name. UNLESS your name means something (Sarah means princess. Sarah will remain Sarah in Chinese or any other language now or 100000 years from now. BUT PRINCESS will have a different translation as it is not a name but a title. This translation of princess into the Chinese pronunciation for princess will change the NAME based on meaning only. But it would be a MISTRANSLATION of the actual name of the person).

And you did not answer anything because the J letter or pronunciation did not exist. In Greek it was an “I” not a J.

Above the cross was INRI (in Greek) it was also in 2 other languages for a total of 3. NO J at all.

Sorry you even loose in Greek…

Jesus Christ is the English/Anglicized “nickname”

 Quoting: Judethz

Assumption incorrect. I never try to post without my tea (or confession to be made I am a yank so it is coffee over here) I am sorry that you did not quote what I said in context but only took out a snippet. This causes you to lose a little credibility in my eyes because these are the same tactics that the mainstream news uses, snippets taken out of context, please do not do that but keep things in context.

Yes, we are called Christians, because He is called the Christ point taken - but it is only an issue of linguistics because we are communicating in the English language, Christ is an English word derived from a Greek word, so it stands to reason Christians would also be derived in such a way in the English construct.

However this does not make it any holier or more valid which is what your post seemed to be indicating - since in other languages it would be presented differently only it is still equally as holy or valid in another language.
For instance, Christ derives from the Greek Christos meaning anointed one, however in the original Hebrew language, the same term, same word, anointed one is the word Mashiach from which we get the English word Messiah, so is it any less valid to call followers of Messiah, Messianic than it is to call followers of Christ Christian? They are one and they same are they not, and is either of the terms more holy than the other? We are one body, one blood, no matter what language we speak or how we communicate it.
As Shakespeare once wrote “a rose, by any other name smells just as sweet”.

I am not trying to be contrarian or troll you because as I said, I usually enjoy your posts and very much respect the position that you take on the pre-tribulation rapture and your willingness to take the arrows on this forum because of it, but I am trying to be iron to sharpen your iron and I hope you take it as that and not as me trying to be combative. Blessings to you sister -from a brother in CHRIST!

I agree you can often spot a cult by names they use, but messianic J often call Jesus YESHUA which is his habrew name, i have no problem with that, but habrew roots often call him Yeshua too, so a red flag can pop up if its used, depending on the situation. And Jehova is usually used by Jehovas false witness which is a cult etc.

But it is extremely hard to accept when you were taught wrong your whole life and for the last 400 years.

Just like Jerusalem was not called that back then.

It was Yerushalom, Ursalim and/or Yerushayalim depending on dialect.

OMG how could it be??? They were calling their capital the wrong name!!!

How dare they!

No it doesn't. The original New Testament texts, written by the apostles, all wrote His name as 'Inoous (not phonetic), transliterated and pronounced to Jesus.

There's no other way to put it. People who want to undermine the apostles, the New Testament and the authority of His name, Jesus Christ, are sewing evil.. and if this applies to anyone who claims to read (and understand) the KJ Bible, you should already know the anger that God has for you. But you don't know, because you're a fraud.

Matthew
“.. and thou shalt call his name JESUS.."

Mark
“And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake (JESUS)..”

Luke
“.. his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.”

“And this was known to all the J*e*w*s and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord JESUS was magnified.”

John
“But these are written, that ye might believe that JESUS is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”

Peter
“If ye be reproached for the name of (JESUS) Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.”

Paul
“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord JESUS Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”
