Making sure that you have a few basic essentials to buy you time in any event is just prudent. Keeping 10,000 cans of tuna is dumb.

My stance on prepping has changed a lot. The best you can do is prep low-key. Understand your local area and anywhere you might roam to.

The more you can rely off the land, the less you need to buy, the less there is to steal, the less helpless you are if people find or invade your home.

is prepping bs? is nuclear war a hallucination? read the signals. then prep.
as it happens there will not be a nuclear showdown sci fi mutually assured destruction situation. that doesn't mean that the west might not try a little something something. russia can neutralize these things fairly well and they have the absolute capacity to destroy the opposition without nukes. and they have a care for human life.
there will be a number of weird events that will destroy society
there will be economic shock in the west. there will be a variety of planetary effects; quakes tsunamis volcanos
but it won't last for a very long period of time. basic preps for a month should be plenty.
