Major economic Crash schoon! The silver price moves on a leveraged basis vs. the gold price, both up and down. If you think the gold price is going higher (I do) then the silver price will go up much more, percentage-wise. I vote silver. |

Major economic Crash schoon! My budget allows either one. Quoting: drax-o-logic With rumors of gold revaluation or silver going 500$ i am in a bind. So which one should i get? About 15 years ago (2009) I bought 2 one ounce gold Krugarands as my first and only dip into precious metal, this at a time when there was also much talk about Tungsten forgeries (probably as part of the suppression of gold prices). Here in the UK, I paid £500 each to actually get them in my sweaty palm (at that time the spot price was about $450 an ounce). Today the SPOT PRICE is close to £1500. I wish I'd bought more. At the same time Silver was £9 an oz now £20. My take... Many different metals are now mined for fancy modern day uses in electrical / electronic goods, mines usually have various combinations of ores, different metals being refined as "by-products". This is, and always be the case for silver. Silver is a relatively common "by-product" of numerous mining operations. I think this is the problem with silver (as it's store of value). Also many countries charge a tax on the full value of silver as opposed to tax free gold (other than tax on the handling charge). As for my gold coins... Of course I wish I'd bought more, I wish I'd bought FANG stocks and houses too! BUT, gold coins though nice to look at and touch are not the easiest thing to liquidate (if that's not an oxymoron). I'd take my chances on gold rather than silver. Silver is currently more an industrial metal and has pretty good supply lines and production, though silver is a good bet, if storage (and carriage) and paying full tax is not an issue. |

Major economic Crash schoon! On a percentage basis, when the price skyrockets, silver rises to a higher overall % profit historically. The silver gold ratio always narrows from 90 ounces of silver = 1 ounce of gold to 40 or less. That means as gold rises, silver rises higher on a % gain basis. Buy silver. Think about it this way as well... if it ever gets to the point you have to trade it for bread or gasoline, you don't want to be stuck with $5000 dollar bills and nobody has change. With silver you have $200 dollar bills. it's much better for making smallish purchases. |

Silver has (by far) the most potential. And you should by silver if you want to be able to buy (or barter) for small items. Would you really want to give someone a gram (or more) of gold for a meal? |

Major economic Crash schoon! Gold and silver are almost as common as each other in the Earth's crust. It is about the same level of work to mine them... The difference in cost isn't really due to scarcity. It's all about impression. Silver is more useful, currently. |

There is 19 times more silver in the earth's crust than there is gold. However, you are correct that silver is more useful for industry. |

Major economic Crash schoon! Let's say you want to trade some gold or silver for an item currently worth $30. Do you really want to fork over a 10th oz gold coin? Or even something smaller, like a 1 gram ingot? Or would you rather trade something closer to the value of the item you want to buy, like an oz of silver? |

Trade the ratios after. If its around 80-1 now, wait until it is closer to 10-1 since silver miners are not producing enough to keep up with the paper market. Then trade silver for gold because it is easier to carry. 35 oz's of silver isn;t hard to carry unless you are very weak! Soulless fake humans are already AI.
