It's a known, very common ploy to set up an accident and I've had it happen about a dozen times.

Some of the ploys were more creative but usually its more on the level of grammar school pranks than anything else.

The strange part of the entire "accident" is that I would get a tingling in my ears when one was approaching. It happened so dependably that I quickly learned to slow down and become super vigilant as soon as the tingling sensation started.

There was about 5 gallons of oil that "leaked" out of a truck disabled on the roadway on a steep incline; it was raining and very difficult to see the oil.

There was sand spread on the roundabout and in the fog it was a little tricky.

There was the guy who pretended to be fumbling under his seat as he came over into my lane.

There was the old couple coming right at me while looking the opposite direction; they were kinda cringing waiting for the collision; must have been their first job:)

I'm not sure where the tingle signal is coming from...
