Quoting: Big Daddy D [link to www.investing.com (secure)] --------------------------- Access to cash is of special concern for Germans, who value the security and anonymity it offers, and who tend to use it more than other Europeans, with some still hoarding Deutschmarks replaced by euros more than two decades ago. Roughly 60% of everyday purchases are paid in cash, according to a recent Bundesbank study that found Germans, on average, withdrew more than 6,600 euros annually chiefly from cash machines. A parliamentary report a decade ago warned of "discontent" and "aggressive altercations" in case citizens were unable to get their hands on cash in a blackout. LOL if the power is out you can't get money out anyway what kind of fucking dumb ass news story is this also what kind of fuckin bitch uses banks????? |

But They also advise to have enough cash at hand for a blackout situation So.. have cash but not enough to purchase enough and useful things if things go down. |

I remember my grandma telling me as a young girl she once stole a 100,000 note from her dad to go to the "milk hut" and buy some chocolate and share it with her friends. Day later she wouldn't have got the chocolate bar for this amount of money. Last Edited by Phoenixe2 on 11/17/2022 03:02 AM |

Germany should have never gone in with the European currency plan. Would have been better off doing everything in house with the Deutschmark. That way they would have been independent of the nonsense which takes place in various European countries. Also Germany needs to seriously rethink its energy plans as they are too reliant on external factors such as Russian gas. EU is quickly becoming a sinking ship with its technocratic and bureaucratic practices. |

This will always maintain its value, but it will not buy food at the local shop, so that is why it is recommeneded to be able to grow your own food. |

No bank tellers in in many modern banks, instead you might get a cash machine helper who shows you how to operate the machines. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84777076 Why do they have to limit anything, if the electric goes off there wont be any ATMs working or banks opening. No. Electric off means everything off. Mobile phone cell masts only have batteries which last a few hours and eventually they go off, so no mobile phone. I doubt the engineers who maintain these cell masts have a full fleet of diesel generators ready to go. So no electric means your back in the stone age as many modern houses do not have any means of heating other than use of electricity, water comes from a pumping station which is reliant on electricity and a diesel generator. |
